TEACHING HOW TO SKATEBOARD
Summarize what you did in this activity/project:
In this project I taught my friends how to skateboard. I cannot say I’m very well versed with skateboarding either however I was very familiar with all the basics and a few tricks since I had been skateboarding for a year now. I taught my friends how to simply ride the skateboard and how to properly balance, switch footing, and accelerate.
Explain what you hoped to accomplish through this activity/project?
I hoped to get back into skateboarding and learn even more. I also hoped to improve my bonds with all my friends and dorm mates. With that, I wanted to feel more comfortable and ready to try new tricks that I couldn’t do at first without being comfortable with the board.
How successful were you in achieving your goals? What difficulties did you encounter and how did you overcome them?
I believe I was successful as I did become closer with my friends through the process and gained many new skills. I was able to teach my friends and a new skill and in the process, develop my skill as well. However, it was hard to teach as it would often be hard for them to balance on the skateboard, and it would become extremely time consuming, I overcame this by simply remaining patient and teaching them ways in which it would make it easier to balance while riding.
How can you apply what you have learned in other life
situations?
I believe, that indirectly I did learn to develop skills fast, which can be useful in the future as I apply for unknown jobs, and finish my tasks as efficiently as I can without having a single doubt about how to do them. I will also be able to apply my patience in various different circumstances I may face in the future.
