SKETCHES

Summarize what you did in this activity/project:

In this activity I tried to embrace my passion for art, moreover, drawing in a more freeing manner with no need to worry about correcting the imperfections, the best way to attain this is by sketching. I sketched about six pieces, each signifying a different meaning. Some were artist recopies while others were compilations of varies different components. Doing this really helped me reconnect with my love for drawing unconstrained.

Explain what you hoped to accomplish through this activity/project?

For this project, I hoped to see where I stood in terms of my capabilities and my grasp for sketching. I hoped to let go of the perfectionism I always hoped to achieve when doing art by trying a new form of drawing.

How successful were you in achieving your goals? What difficulties did you encounter and how did you overcome them?

I do believe I was successful in achieving what I hoped to accomplish. I faced many many difficulties when trying to make artist recopies as I was trying to fully mimic/ recreate every stroke, shade, etc used by the artist even when it wasn't possible. I got over this difficulty by discovering my own art style with sketching and learning not to compare my work with that of the artist's level of expertise and experience.

How can you apply what you have learned in other life situations?

From this activity, I learnt that perfectionism isn't everything, and that things can still turn out beautiful without them having no flaws. I think this is an important lesson as it can be applied everywhere in life. To be satisfied with things even if they don't go the way you want them to is something I never thought I'd see myself doing, but realising that being "perfect" isn't everything, goes to show how much there is to life with confidence.
